Artist's Description

This is an antique Italian political cartoon showing a large balloon ("Politica") in the shape of a man ready to gobble up the moon ("Oriente") defended by a man ("Turco") holding a fork. Other armed men representing the nations of Europe and North Africa are falling off the balloon into the frying pan of war ("Guerra") held by the Roman god Mars ("Marte").

Thank you for taking a moment to explore my artwork. I live and work in Maine. With my camera, I travel throughout the state and New England exploring seaside towns and seeking out elements that spark inspiration and interest. Here you will find two things: First, collections of my photographical interests. These include exploring the unseen or often overlooked details within our built environment with a focus on iron, wood and the sea. Generally, I seek to capture the beauty and interest in the small things - the parts rather than the whole. For example, the patina of a 170 year old iron spike that dutifully remains whilst the lumbar long ago vanished around it. Additionally, I enjoy sourcing historical posters, advertisements...
