Artist's Description

Antique broadside announcing a festival at Vauxhall Gardens, London, England, dates to around 1841. Includes a list of the events and scheduled performances, including the release of the balloon "Fat Boy." "A great personage will make his first appearance at any place of amusement this evening--the renowned Fat Boy! and, inflated ... he will pay his respects ... and becoming a day balloon, will bid adieu to terra firma, ascending head-foremost to the infinity of space ... it is formed to travel about 100 miles."

About Vintage Pix

Vintage Pix
